THE “NEW” PROSTATE CANCER INFOLINK SOCIAL NETWORK
The “New” Prostate Cancer InfoLink Social Network is a social networking site where anyone interested in or affected by prostate cancer can gather to share information and knowledge, including patients, family members, and health professionals.
The total membership of this social network now numbers over 7,000 individuals. A primary function of the site is to assist men who are newly diagnosed and men who have received initial treatment but then find they have progressive or potentially progressive disease to understand all their options so that they can discuss these knowledgeably with their doctors and other health professionals as necessary.
We can also work with the members of this social network to
- Assist researchers to field surveys on particular research topics
- Identify a “buddy” for a newly diagnosed patient who wants to be able to talk with “someone like him” who has already had to deal with what he is facing
- Put a spouse or partner of a newly diagnosed patient in touch with another spouse or partner who will understand exactly what she (or he) is facing and concerned about
