Partnerships
PCaI collaborates regularly with a spectrum of other not-for-profit and for-profit organizations to provide information, educational services, and advances in scientific knowledge to increase knowledge about prostate cancer. These currently include:
- The Prostate Cancer CureTalks programs
- The Prostate Cancer Project
- An international Proactive Surveillance Prostate Cancer Expert Collaborative (PROSPECT) working group
We also collaborate with others on a range of advocacy issues such as
- Continued funding for the U.S. Department of Defense’s Prostate Cancer Research Program
- Funding for prostate cancer-related research through the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health here in the U.S.
- Appropriate and accurate guidelines on testing and screening for risk prostate cancer, and access to such testing and screening
- Appropriate and accurate guidelines on the management of prostate cancer that include the concept of shared decision-making between physicians and their patients
- Approval of new, safe, and effective forms of drugs, biologics, and medical devices that have the ability to help in the diagnosis and management of prostate cancer
- Protection of the “covered” status of cancer and other drugs under Medicare through the “Protect Cancer, Antidepressant , Psych, Seizure, Transplant Rejection, and HIV-AIDS Drugs” initiative
